The Rules of Decorating Beige
The White Swatch
A lot of people will go to the paint store, and somehow find a few beige colors, and when they get to painting it somehow feels, green? Maybe a bit too yellow? Light colors will always translate in different scenarios to the naked eye, and so the best trick is to actually find a pure white paint chip and use it to compare it to other colors in the shop. You’ll see if something is off, or too much of one color, when comparing it to pure white. And beware of a pink-beige, because it’s hard to match. (It’s also great to carry a pure white swatch any time your shopping for decor)
Play With Texture
Texture is a really good way to break things up. When there is slight differentiation in color, it doesn’t look as good. But mixing different textures gives the illusion that the colors are more different. Avoid similar fabrics when decorating in these shades, as you may find things either fall flat, or just look a bit off.
Marble & Wood
Using marble and wood as a primary accent to the room can make it feel all the more luxurious. Use deep woods to have more depth instead of blacks. And a white based marble against a cream wall is a beautiful transition.
