A Stay at Esme
The Esme Hotel’s entrance faces a restaurant line street bustling with energy. As you walk into their moody lobby smelling of sandalwood it takes you into a more relaxing mood.Walking back to the courtyard connects 3-4 buildings, I honestly couldn’t tell, but it separates you from a log of the energy outside in a relaxing environment where you can easily work or enjoy a quiet breakfast. The restaurant feels like another portal with classic French bistro chairs, muted red plaster walls and a stunning bar. This contrast to the bright outside courtyard makes you feel like you’re in another space entirely.
The rooftop pool has an adorable bar with checked tile pool and separate outdoor lounge area in between. You can spend your day here drinking by the pool or evenings by the bar and lounge. The drinks are amazing.
The rooms are cozy with dark walls and beautiful clay tiles. Views can either be looking on to the street or into the courtyard which is more quiet. There is a separate building called Casa Matanza, a standalone guesthouse across Drexel Avenue, which is also part of the Esme hotel and has larger suites with beautiful balconies. Those suites are best suited maybe if you want to bring a kid and need a crib. Below that building is the amazing restaurant, The Drexel, which similarly plays on the aesthetic of the Esme, but more earthy.
The hotel has buggies with access to a private part of the beach, if you wish to do that as well. But all in all, this was one of the most special hotels I have visited in Miami (I have gone to many of them) - I would recommend for a romantic weekend or a business trip as there are a lot of places to hold meetings and do work in a beautiful setting.
